The 8th Grade Field Trip to Casa del Rio

On Monday I passed out permission forms about the field trip. Here is the text of these forms. If you were absent, be sure to get one from me when you get back. Remember, they're due Thursday with the $7.50!

What are we doing? As part of our Spanish unit on food, we have been learning how to order food and talk with a waiter at a restaurant. To practice our new skills, we have a fantastic opportunity to travel as an 8th grade class to a Mexican restaurant. At the restaurant, our waiters will expect us to speak with them and order in Spanish, which is a great opportunity to practice the language and eat some delicious food. I hope all students are able to attend! However, attendance is not required. Here is what everyone needs to know:

Where: La Casa del Río Mexican Restaurant, located about a mile from the school at 1060 S. Pantano road (a bit north of 22nd street, across from the post office).

When: Tuesday, April 10th, 2012 (this is the 2nd day back from Spring Break)

Time: We will leave the school at 12:30, as our appointment is from 12:45 – 2:00. Chaperones should report to the office by 12:25. We will gather for departure in room 104 (the P.E. room).

Cost: $7.50 per person. This cost will include a choice between several combination plates, a drink, and any applicable tax or tip. There will be a vegetarian option as well. All people who are eating at the restaurant must pay in advance. The money (cash only) and this confirmation sheet are due no later than Thursday, March 29th by 3:30, to me. I MUST report an accurate number of persons eating to the restaurant by that date. If I do not have confirmation from your student by then, he or she will not be allowed to attend.

Transportation: We need many parents to volunteer to drive students the short distance to the restaurant. Parents are welcome to eat with us as well. Parent chaperones who would like to eat will need to order a meal in advance as explained above. Parents are not required to eat in order to attend.

Questions: If you have any questions, please email me at jmiller@atmschool.net. Thank you!
