Monday

Week of April 30 - May 4

Monday April 30 - Today I checked last week's Bellwork since we didn't have class on Friday due to the picnic. I wrote grades in planners and we did a vocabulary Powerpoint activity as well as a listening comprehension activity. No homework. Tuesday May 1 - Today we studied our vocabulary words, did a mixer activity to practice asking for and giving directions, and I also passed back your map projects. We used the map projects to orally give directions as well. Homework: Complete questions 1 and 2 of homework sheet, due tomorrow. Wednesday May 2 - Today we learned all about demonstrative adjectives and made flash cards for them. We did packet work, whiteboard practice, and other activities to learn these words and how to use them. Homework: complete the rest of your packet, due Tuesday. Thursday May 3 - Today we reviewed demonstrative adjectives from yesterday and had a Powerpoint presentation (with notes) on el Cinco de Mayo. Homework: all work in packet is due Tuesday. We will also check Bellwork on Monday since there will be no official class tomorrow. Friday May 4 - Today most of the 8th graders were at Disneyland. Those who remained had an alternative activity so no class today or homework.

Week of April 23-27, 2012

Monday 23 - Today was our Quarter 4 binder check, so if you were absent today come see me when you get back so I can check yours. We talked about our field trip. If you didn't pay Friday, you're not going. Chaperones should plan on being at the school at 12:20 and need to bring their drivers licence and proof of insurance to the office to get a copy on file. We also began our city map project, which involves plotting out a city map with various buildings according to instructions I gave in class. Homework: study flash cards for 5 minutes Tuesday 24 - Today we did a flash card activity and worked on our city maps from yesterday. Homework: finish your city maps, due Thursday (we will not be working on them in class tomorrow). Today was also our field trip to Casa del Rio from 12:25 - 1:45. If you were absent but paid money to go, unfortunately we can't refund your money because it was given to the restaurant in a lump sum (as a check). Wednesday 25 - Today we made flash cards and discussed the other two parts of our vocabulary sheet, and we began memorizing these phrases. Homework: finish all flash cards for tomorrow, as well as your city maps. Thursday 26 - Today your city maps were due for 60 points. We did a speaking activity with them and also did our leading a blindfolded friend activity outside (and directing them in Spanish). No homework tonight. Friday 27 - Two of my three 8th grade classes did not meet today due to the 8th grade Picnic, so in period 3 we did vocab activities. No homework.

Friday

Week of April 16-20 - AIMS WEEK

There will not be any homework this week due to AIMS, other than bringing the 7.50 and permission form for the field trip to Casa del Rio by Thursday. Here is what we are doing in class. Each class will be about 25 minutes long.

Monday 16 - We started Lesson 12, which has to do with buildings around town. We did oral activities and listening activities to learn the new words. On Friday I passed out the new information sheet/permission form for our field trip to Casa del Rio, which has been moved to Tuesday April 24th. If your student already paid for the field trip a couple of weeks ago, he doesn't need to pay again. If not, she needs to turn in the new form with the 7.50 no later than this Thursday.

Tuesday 17 - Today we started our flash cards and began learning the Lesson 12 words.

Wednesday 18 - Today we finished our flash cards in class and did flash card study with a partner. Get money and permission form to me tomorrow!

Thursday 19 - I will check for flash cards at the end of class today for points. We finished them up if there was any delay and did flash card activities. Money and permission form due for the field trip. If you were absent, I will also accept it tomorrow by 3:30, but that's the final deadline.

Friday 20 - Today we started our project for this lesson, which involves creating a city map and labeling all the buildings in Spanish. No homework.
